Autumn came suddenly and so are St. Maarten en St. Nicolaas. I can't believe it's already that time of year. No drawings or season's table in St. Maarten style this year, I thought. But this afternoon the children came home with carving pumpkins on their minds. So while the children were carving pumpkins, I made a papercut with transparent paper on the back. To me this is the best way to spend Wednesday afternoons. (In Holland children at primary school have the afternoon of at Wednesday.) A piece of oilcloth on the table and a bunch of crafting kids. Friday, November 11th, they will celebrate St. Maarten, by going door by door singing, lightened by their lanterns.
