Bluebird for Lynn

Lara, the little girl next door for whom I made the capricorn messenger bag, happens to have a cousin of the same age. Her mother liked the bag I made very much and asked me to make one for her daughter, who's turning six tomorrow. We decided on a blue birdie bag. I made the bias tape with the daisies myself as well as the gingham piping. I only had a small 30x30 square piece of daisy fabric, but following this tutorial I made a really long strip of bias cut tape.

Deze week kreeg ik eindelijk weer eens een opdracht voor de winkel. Iemand wilde een iPhone hoesje laten maken dat past bij een tas die gemaakt is van een Zwitserse legerdeken. Ik heb al een hoop van deze hoesjes gemaakt, meestal met een logo of een naam erop. Wil je ook een zelfgemaakt cadeau, neem dan gerust contact op. In de winkel staan vooral voorbeelden van wat ik eerder heb gemaakt. Iets nieuws doen is tenslotte veel leuker! Zo'n tas zou ik trouwens ook niet gek vinden!

This week I finally got a new assignment for the shop. Somebody wanted an iPhone cover to accompany a bag made of a Swiss Army blanket. I love making handmade gifts, so don't hesitate to contact me, if you want to have or to give a handmade present.

Pillow

In an earlier post I told you about opening a little shop. I did, but I'm having some problems to solve with IDeal payment and other boring stuff.  In the meantime I put a few things in an Etsy shop and that was so easy, that I can't remember why I thought having my own webshop was better. Please have a look, if you like. I wasn't planning on making stuff for a shop though. What I would like to do most, is to make something special, as a commission. Just as the presents I use to make (and will continue to) for my loved ones. Last week I made this pillowcover. I started it a month ago as a present for a friend of Lauren, but I was to sick to finish it by then. The applique was inspired by the illustrations of Okamoto Kiichi. We bought her another present, but I finished the cover anyway, so I listed it in my shop. Hmm, I like the sound of that!

Little red riding hood

When I was working on this doll, I asked my children what she should be. Aurora, the sleeping beauty, Rapunzel or little Red riding hood. I've to admit they rooted for Aurora, but once I made the hair, with the kind of oldfashioned Germanstyle braids, little Red riding hood was born. By the way, I think she got Bette Davis eyes, don't you? .

At the end of the week the shop will be opened and she's for sale! I'll keep her for a few days to  enjoy the result of my 'hard work.
