An easy start

Zoals ik eerder al liet weten, wordt hier weinig geklust. Klussen in de ware zin van het woord, dat er gereedschap bij komt kijken, is hier trouwens altijd een sluitpost. Wij kunnen heel lang met een peertje aan het plafond of een kaalgeschuurde wc-deur. Eerlijk is eerlijk, die laatste staat sinds een tijdje in de grondverf. "Da's al een heel stuk opgeknapt", zeggen we dan tegen elkaar. 

Klussen in de tuin, daar moet ik altijd even voor in de stemming komen. Dus: zonnetje, aangenaam temperatuurtje én ik moet het verschil kunnen zien. En dan in mijn goeie goed de tuin in. Ja, berouw komt altijd na de zonde. Rug en tuin verdragen elkaar slecht, dus ook daar is al even niet geklust. Nou ja, mijn man heeft gesnoeid. De leilindes, de rozen en álle hortensias, niet slechts de Annabellen. Maar goed bedoeld, dat wel. 

Tijd om weer eens iets te doen. En waar beter te beginnen dat bij good old Husqvarna. Lauren was uitgenodigd voor een verjaardagspartijtje, dus een klein cadeautje was een goed begin. Het notitieboek van de tutorial stond op de verlanglijst. Fluitje van een cent, maar te laat begonnen en dus bijna geen tijd meer voor een fatsoenlijke foto.  

Not much crafting around here lately. No real crafting (as in using iron tools), but that's nothing new. We are procastrinators and we have a high tolerance for paintless doors and lampless ceilings. No working in the garden either. Well my husband did the pruning, usually my chore. He industriously pruned the roses and the limetrees and áll of my hydrangeas, not only the Annabelles. 

Time for an easy start. Lauren was invited to a birthday party and wanted to bring a hand made gift. I made the notebook from my own tutorial. Peace of cake, but no time left to make decent pictures.

La mamma kept a promise

 Valentijn kept a diary the whole vacation, which is quite an accomplishment when there's so much to distract you from this daily 'labour'. I promised him a cover for his notebook if he would succeed and here it is. Since Valentijn loved Pisa and 'il torre pendente' so much, I didn't have to think long about what to make. Oh, the things the children spent their pocketmoney on...I used my own notebook tutorial (scroll down!) and did some sewingmachine embroidery on the tower of felt.

Bag tutorial

Isn't my new bicycle a beauty? It's a birthday present from my husband. I love the big trunk on the front. I can throw in just about everything. I'm showing off a little here, but it's also the perfect opportunity to show my new summer fling bag. This bag is everybody's darling. Magic book tutorial

When I was a little girl, my grandfather had a little book like this. He impressed me with this trick. First the twentyfive guilder note (or something in that style) was on the crossed side of the wallet and when he flipped it over, miraculously it changed to the other side. What a grandfather he was! My mother has made a few in the past as a little give away and now I've made my own. I'm probably trespassing magician rules by telling you how I did it, but I'll take that risk! So follow me please to the tutorial.

Notebook cover tutorial

It wasn't the best of weeks. We were sick and had to deal with unexpected disappointment and grieve. I'll spare you the details. This was my remedy! As always, crafting has a soothing effect on me. Being busy with my hands, no time to think.

I have this thing for notebooks. And pens too, by the way. The real ones, Waterman, Mont Blanc... And those two together can be so promising. Just writing down an idea, a song, a book you want to read. While writing you can fool yourself.

I love fabric covered notebooks (have you seen the ones //Between the line// made?). This is my version. I made a cover. You can shove in a new notebook everytime you need one. This is half an hour work. It took me more time to write the tutorial! Let me show how it's done.

Valentine's garland

Do you celebrate Valentine's day? We don't, really. Although I like to be given perfume, chocolate and flowers. Little boxes from my favorite jeweller are even better. I think my not-so-secret Valentine knows these things, he also knows I like these things all year.  That sounds greedy, ha! Back to the simple things in life.  I thought it would be nice to 'pink' things up a little. I'm fed up with grey clouds and rain, aren't you? I made this little garland and wrote  a tutorial for you. Click here for more.

Nieuwe elastiekjes

Speldjes zijn nog nooit blijven zitten in het haar van onze dochter, dus zijn we altijd op zoek naar elastiekjes. Ik was nogal dol op de geruite strikjes van H&M, maar zoals dat gaat met dingen waar je dol op bent: op een goeie dag verkopen ze het niet meer. Ik heb dus een paar nieuwe elastiekjes gemaakt. Een aantal van vilt, van deze tutorial van Vlijtig en een paar japanse kanzashibloemen. Ongetwijfeld ook eens ergens van het net geplukt, maar ik zou niet meer weten waar. Ik maak ze zo:



1. Leg een stukje stof van 5x5cm met de verkeerde kant boven op tafel. Vouw over de diagonaal

2. Vouw A en B naar C.

3. Dan ziet het er zo uit.

4. Draai om. Vouw A en B naar C (het midden) en vouw

5. het hele zaakje meteen dubbel over de middenlijn (naar binnen)

6. Zo ziet het nu uit. De rafeltjes zitten aan de onderkant en aan de bovenkant is het door het vouwen mooi afgewerkt. Zet nu eerst bij A de boel met een klein steekje vast en knip dan B eraf.

7. Nu heb je een mooi bloemblaadje. Dit doe je 5 keer.

8. Rijg een draad aan de onderkant van de bloemblaadjes. Neem steeds drie delen mee; vouwtje, binnenkant, vouwtje. Knoop draad vast. In principe is de kanzashi-bloem nu klaar. Vaak priegel ik nog even met naald en draad om het mooi te krijgen.

Om het af te maken, maak je een stofknoop van 19 mm van dezelfde stof. Hier kun je dan een dun stukje elastiek doorhalen, door het gat van de bloem halen (is de boel meteen mooi afgewerkt), knoop erin leggen en klaar!
