Good news for my mother

Na ampel beraad heb ik besloten om met u in het Nederlands te communiceren. Lange tijd dacht ik dat dit blog door honderden Zweden per dag gelezen werd, maar die aantallen zijn gedecimeerd. Dat zullen dan wel zoekmachines geweest zijn. (Zijn er echt zoveel zweedse zoekmachines?) Nou ja, die brave Zweden waren hier, conform hun vermeende volksaard,  ook nogal stil, dus ze zullen er geen traan om laten.

Ik ben in het Engels begonnen omdat ik gestreeld werd door de hoeveelheden anderstalige bezoekers. Worldwide web, you know. Maar ik merk dat ik het moeilijk vind om er genoeg 'Petra', in door te laten klinken. In het Engels wordt het al gauw allemaal een beetje braaf, een beetje Martha Stewart. Nu klinkt 'Petra' bepaald niet veel stoerder, maar zo heet ik nu eenmaal. Bovendien is het leeuwendeel van de reacties in mijn moerstaal, dat zegt eigenlijk ook wel genoeg. 

Omdat ik het wel heel leuk vind dat ook anderstaligen hier hun licht op kunnen steken, doe ik het aan het eind van het bericht nog eens dunnetjes over in het Engels. En, niets zo veranderlijk als een vrouw, dus wie weet dat het nieuwe jaar weer andere inzichten brengt.

En als toetje nog een Sinterklaasje. Ik heb de tekening even door de Repper gehaald: alweer cadeaupapier. 

To make this blog sound more like me, I have decided to write in Dutch. Still, I love the fact that all of you who don't speak Dutch, come over to visit my blog, so I will provide an English summary. In English I sound like a goody-two-shoe-Martha-Stewart-person, which I am most certainly not. Besides that, almost all comments are in Dutch too. But please, feel free to leave a comment in whatever language, it's very much appreciated.

Sinterklaas

Always an insecure moment in a young child's life: will Sinterklaas arrive in the Netherlands this year? Luckily he did. St. Maarten and the arrival of St. Nicolaas were so close together that I wasn't quite in the mood yet, but once the boat came in the little harbour of our town, we were ready. We have only one firm believer left in our house, so let's enjoy for as long as it lasts.

I think this period of year is the most busy, craftswise. I did another papercut and turned in into a printable label. Feel free to copy/paste it and attache it to your shoe presents. Wouldn't the design below make great giftwrapping paper?

Origami easter bunny and free printable

Still in the origami mood, and it is contagious. Last week our school held an auction for Japan and our eldest son teached his class to fold cranes. They've been folding like mad men. Every who contributed got one. I've made these bunnies and put them in a cardholder.  I also hung a few in a willow branch. "What are these kangaroos doing in the easter tree...?". I used this tutorial.

I also made a free printable out of it. Since I have so many Swedish readers everyday, I've made a Swedish Easter card for them. By clicking on the picture, you can copy/paste it. If you print it on heavy weight paper it's a nice Easter card.Thank you all for stopping by. Feel free to say hello!
